Internet Marketing Advantage is a Brisbane based business first established in 2003 through the collaboration of three industry professionals in the fields of Web Design, Applications Programming and Web Hosting. Our vision was to provide the commercial market place with holistic "end-to-end" solutions (web, database, software packages) catered specifically toward the small to medium sized enterprises.
With the introduction of Web 2.0 in 2004 and a more dynamic and interactive online environment, we refocused our service offering and geared ourselves toward the development of "rich media" online web services such as content management and online ordering systems. Still moreso a development house at this stage (as Search Engine Optimisation and Pay Per Click advertising were still in their infancy), it wasn't until early 2007 that our company fully maturity as an Internet Marketing Service provider.
Pursuant to the Web 2.0 movement, the Internet Marketing landscape had also begun to shift quite dramatically with the emergence of social media networks as MySpace, Facebook and Bebo which gained wide spread popularity in late 2005. By 2006, online advertising campaigns could utilise these demographic-information rich platforms to more accurately qualify online users with promotions being able to target potential customers on age, marital status, nationality and interests. Micro blogging sites such as Twitter, as well as Social bookmarking sites as Stumbleupon, Digg, Furl and del.icio.us were also developing into significant online communities and an excellent source for targetted traffic.
Google had also started penalising online advertising practices which previously offered convenient and inexpensive short cuts to getting to the first page of search results. On-page elements such as terms and conditions, privacy policy, as well as who was linking to your site and how, all became critical factors in determining a website quality score leading to its PPC cost. And so we found ourselves focusing considerably more on Internet Marketing related efforts than development in response to the needs of our customers, and in turn our focus once again was realigned to give this the priority which it required, leading to the business we've become today.
